FOOD BLOG TIME

So I like food a lot, but unlike Marissa, I don't really food blog. Probably because I don't have a digital camera and food blogging is boring without pictures. Anyways though, here I am to tell you folks about some recent good food that I have eaten.

When I visited my sister in the city I had some good food! Surprise!

First off, Ramon, Steve, Jon and Arjun came into the city for a visit. We went to a place by my sister's house called Saigon Sandwich (she lives in little Saigon, which has several such sandwich shops, none of which are as good, especially not Lee's, where I had a not so good vegetarian sandwich that was basically bread + twigs) and got delicious sandwiches. I got a tofu one, which was really good because the tofu is cut into interestingly textured strips and fried in a sauce that is pretty delish (and keeps the sandwich from being dry- like Lee's was). Saigon sandwich is heavy with the cilantro and strategically places the chili for some surprisingly spicy bites. The other guys said the meat was good too. It's also pretty cheap! I give saigon sandwich a gold star!

Next we ate at this Moroccan place that I like. I don't remember the name, but it is on Polk, up past Post street. It was also way good. Here is a picture of Morocco on a map. In case you didn't know.

Later on, the next day, the sis and I had falafel. I like falafel. We also sat on the ground in the restaurant to eat. Very comfortable. Later we ate at kindness kitchen- an Indian place near my sister's house. There was a tour bus of middle-aged-to-old Indian folks there so we had to wait for about an hour, which was crazy. We were eventually seated in the romantic section of the restaurant, which we both got a kick out of. It was pretty nice there though, and- again- we were seated on the ground, this time in a little booth. We got a cocktail called the "Indian Summer" which is a bit of a silly name for a drink, but it was tasty. It contained the following:

Gin

Chilis

Cilantro

Cucumber

and Ginger

Rather than using sweetness to hide the alcohol's taste, it complimented it with spicyness. Good call, Indian Summer, This is what it looked like.
main difference- the actual drink didn't look like shit.

The food was also excellent. The Chana Masala reminded me of a chickpea dish that I make at home. It had more cilantro than Chana Masala usually does.

The next day we went to an Italian Street festival and had THE BEST PIZZA EVER. Or one of the best. Mine was the vegan variety, which is not hard to do with real italian, wood fired pizza, as it is not usually smothered with cheese. I also had some blackberry chardonnay gelato, which had a nice complex/ somewhat olive-y flavor.

FINAL NOTE-

I have been eating a lot at Taqueria Davis lately. They have a vegan burrito that is the most fly. Ever. Try that shit, its got everything thats good. The other night I was feeling a little queasy (don't worry, not related to food poisoning) but I had recently had one of their burritos, so I fought the urge to throw up because a burrito that good needs to stay in your stomach.
